What I miss:  unlimited texting, having a toaster oven, my puppies, Funfetti, driving, pecans, planting a springtime garden, mullets being an exception rather than a trend, linguistic jokes, bbq, Mexican restaurants, spicy anything, Thursdays at the Hamptons, slumber parties, pleases and thank-yous, PBR, a clothes dryer for jeans and towels, chocolate chip cookies at Mamoo’s house, porches and backyards, downtown Athens in the late afternoon, ceiling fans, Netflix, Blemnheim’s and bourbon, The National and Ciné, good thrift/vintage stores, receiving The New Yorker in the mail, movies having subtitles instead of being dubbed-over, dinners at Van Wyk’s house, not hearing the Black Eyed Peas played in every bar, boiled peanuts, people who say “y’all,” watching the Colbert Report with my dad, MG

What I don’t miss:  engagement pictures, driving, horseflies and mosquitos, camo, free credit report commercials, door guys, wedding invitations, Glenn Beck’s hysterics, finding parking spots, having too many choices when ordering coffee, hot weather, traffic on Frederica, UGA game days, vegans, farmers’ markets being something special instead of every day, eating dinner before ten, Atlanta

As of yesterday afternoon, it’s official:  I’m going to be here for (at least!) another year.
